In her early career, Yalan Hu worked as a TV director and screenwriter in China from 2011 to 2017. By reporting and documenting social injustice, she allowed her unique style of poignant humor and criticism to represent her view of society. She wrote and directed several television programs and short films in China, Australia, and Sri Lanka.

 

Now based in Los Angeles, US, she's a writer, director and editor in both narrative and documentary storytelling.

Her short films have been awarded in numerous festivals in America and Europe. She's currently in production as well as

development for two feature films.
